High Heel Shoes Reaching New Heights
It has been awhile since I have posted a blog, but I am back in the game and felt so inclined to get back into it during my trip to Chicago.
I found it quite interesting today as I was walking to my yoga workshop in nearby downtown Chicago how I mentally made a comment to myself of a woman that I saw walking by me as she struggling to walk in her high heel shoes. This was around 5:30 PM so obviously she was coming back from work and most likely was wearing her shoes all day and one thing I have noticed in Chicago is that there are a good bunch of commuters who either walk/bus/cab to wherever they need to go, but a good amount of walking is done. I wondered to myself just how much pain she is in, how much further she had to go and thought back to the days where I used to wear heels, whether for work or a night out on the town and how much my feet hated me afterwards. But it is all for the sake of fashion right, and our bodies must suffer in order for us to look good for other people. That totally makes sense! Not!
Within the same day, I encounter another warning about the way we hold ourselves and our posture can have some negative effects on the body. I am currently reading about static and dynamic malalignment as I study about corrective exercise and how a malalignment in the body can pretty much cause a chain reaction to other musculature segments in your body. For those women who do wear high heels, you can betcha your dollar that there is something going on in their hips, their lower back and maybe even their shoulders.
Lastly, as I am about to go onto Google to search the term valgus, which is by the way, an abnormal outward turning of the bone or joint as seen in those who are "knock-kneed", I came across an online article on Shine. It surprisingly talked about the rise of woman's high heels and our current recession and how it is a form of escapism for women, which I found pretty intriguing. It also mentioned how it is causing many women to do more damage to their body. Read the article and seriously think about whether it is worth buying those Christian Louboutin shoes no matter how pretty they may be.
I just purchased My Happy Feet and look forward to start using it when I get back to California. One of the best things you can do is to follow the suggestions mentioned in the article in addition to spending some time caring for your feet. One such thing is My Happy Feet, which I found courtesy of The Restorative Institute, they help to create space between your toes and wearing shoes that cramp your feet will not be healthy for your feet in the long run. When you opne up space between your toes, you allow for the bones in your toes or metatarsals to take their proper shape again and really stretch and realign the muscular fascia in the feet. In addition, there are several exercises that you can follow on www.yogatuneup.com that will address your ankles, feet and heels. There is a simple but effective routine that you can follow that will improve the overall health of your feet and make it more bearable to wear those Christian Louboutin shoes if you absolutely have to.
